540-Pound Bear Taken Near Bruce on Opening Day
COMMUNITYBRUCE — A Holmen hunter took a bear with a live weight of 540 pounds near the town of Bruce on opening day of the bear season, according to Outdoor News.
Becky Miesen, of Holmen, shot the bear while hunting in Zone D in Rusk County. Outdoor News reports that Miesen, her husband, and a friend's 10-year-old daughter all went to the Rusk County bear camp and each came home with a bear.
About 10 minutes before Miesen's bear, Emma Duerkop, 10, shot her first bear while sitting with her dad, Cory, who called his wife, Tina, to share the news.
