Rusk Absentee Request Deadline Is Thursday at 5 p.m.

COMMUNITY

BRIEF · October 25, 2026 · Wade Kessler

LADYSMITH — Rusk County voters who want an absentee ballot mailed to them for the November 3 general election face a deadline this week, according to the Wisconsin Elections Commission.

Requests from regular and overseas voters must be received by the voter's municipal clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29. Voters must be registered before they can request an absentee ballot, and a photo ID is required with the request.

Other deadlines follow on Friday, October 30, at 5:00 p.m.: that is the deadline to register in person in a municipal clerk's office, and the deadline for indefinitely confined and military voters who are not away from home to request an absentee ballot. In-person absentee voting continues at municipal clerks' offices, possibly through November 1, with hours varying by municipality.

Absentee ballots must be received by the municipal clerk by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, to count. Polls on Election Day are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and voters can also register at their polling place that day.
